![]() Like an old finish, it isn’t very durable. We have an old finish on a new guitar it’s as simple as that. I did that artificially for years, with some success, but what we have now is real. Those of you who own them (still own them). We all know the trademark of a vintage guitar is cracked lacquer, and that comes from expansion and contraction of the wood. ![]() I'd love a 57 Historic Reissue Black Beauty (all mahogany), but really am not interested in dropping 2.5K+ at this time, if I can get that sound with a $700 chunk of mahogany (with a few upgrades). In fact, I just sold my last one this week, which means in the span of about 3- months I've sold my R8, R9, R0, 2001 Raw Power, and 2001 Premium Plus, none of which could give me the warm, rich blues/rock tones that my little Warmoth LP Jr (nitro finish with on BG Bucker pup) gives me.īut I want a two pup rig for other options.thus my search for a good solid mahogany, two humbucker flat-top LP. I don't know, maybe a well fitted two-piece is just as good? Not sure.Īnyway, I'm over the custom shop, high-dollar, maple topped LPs.just too bright for my ears. You can try to confirm it by loosening the strings all the way and pressing on the front of the headstock and looking to see if the crack opens, but you might not get it to budge, even if it is a wood crack. I have a Warmoth LP Jr that is one-piece, and I just can't say enough about the sustain that this one-piece gives. ![]() I'm currently on a mahogany body/humbucker kick and wanted to buy a Gibson Les Paul Special SL or HB, but would really like to get something that has a one-piece body.
